Dr. William Freeman serves as Executive Director and Organist of Guardian Angel Cathedral in Las Vegas, Nevada. Reporting directly to the Rector and serving in a chief-of-staff capacity, he oversees the Cathedral’s financial administration, human resources, facilities, security, communications, liturgical operations, and sacred music program. He administers a $1.5 million operating budget and leads six full-time employees, 12 part-time employees, and approximately 110 volunteers.
Freeman began serving Guardian Angel Cathedral as a substitute organist in January 2018 and became a regular Cathedral organist later that year. As his responsibilities increased, he was appointed Director of Music effective May 1, 2020, and Executive Director on June 1, 2022.
During his executive tenure, total contribution income increased 48 percent over three years. Total weekend attendance recorded through the Cathedral’s annual October census increased from 3,486 in 2021 to 6,971 in 2025, nearly doubling participation. Guardian Angel Cathedral concluded FY24 with $252,000 in net income.
As Organist, Freeman provides musical leadership for Cathedral liturgies and major archdiocesan celebrations. He served as Music Director, Choirmaster, and Arranger for the 2021 episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend Gregory W. Gordon as the first Auxiliary Bishop of Las Vegas. In 2023, he served as Co-Director and Organist for the Mass of Canonical Establishment of the Archdiocese of Las Vegas. Both celebrations were broadcast by EWTN. For the Cathedral’s 60th anniversary, Freeman recruited and prepared a 50-voice archdiocesan choir and served as executive producer and organist for a musical and historical video presentation.
Freeman concurrently serves as Director of Sacred Music and Liturgy at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Las Vegas, where he has served since 2014. He has also served as Dean of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Guild of Organists since 2022.
Freeman holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and an Education Specialist in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University, a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership & School Administration from Western Governors University, a Master of Education in Elementary Education with Nevada Licensure from National University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business from Canisius College.
An active organist and conductor, Freeman studied organ with Roland E. Martin and has resumed formal organ study with Lukas Hassler.
