I see that you have a 2:30 PM Mass, does that "count" for my Sunday Obligation? My priest at home said it had to be after 4 PM.
Aside from "What is your Mass schedule?" this is our most frequently asked question. Yes, the 2:30 PM Mass does indeed count toward fulfilling your Sunday Obligation to attend Mass. In 1990, Bishop Walsh requested permission from Rome to offer at 2:30 PM Saturday Mass of Anticipation for tourists in an attempt to reduce the crowded conditions at the other Masses. The special indult was granted, and it still exists today, which is why the 2:30 PM Mass does indeed fulfill your obligation.
What is your Confession schedule?
Our Confession schedule can be found by clicking here.
Do you have low-gluten hosts?
Yes, we do. You must notify an usher before the start of Mass. When it is time for Communion, please proceed only through the Priest Celebrant's Communion line. Unfortunately, once Mass starts, we are no longer able to accommodate any low-gluten requests. It is best to arrive early, at least 15 minutes before the start of Mass.
My spouse and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary. Can we receive a blessing after Mass?
The answer to that question is, "It depends." Catholic priests are only authorized to offer a blessing on anniversaries for couples who have been married sacramentally in the Church. If you were not married in the Church by a Catholic priest or Catholic deacon, we will not be able to offer a blessing. You are urged to contact your neighborhood priest to have your civil marriage convalidated in the Church. This process takes a minimum of six months.
For couples who are married in the Church and would like to receive a marriage blessing, we require a recent (within the last six months) copy of your Baptism Certificate, indicating that you were married, or your wedding certificate, which is signed by the priest and bears the raised seal of the parish. This is required by 3 PM on the preceding Friday, allowing for proper notification to the priest and liturgical staff. Documentation received after 3:00 PM will not be accepted.
At this time, none of our Masses at the Cathedral are currently livestreamed.
