At Guardian Angel Cathedral, we welcome families seeking the Sacrament of Baptism for their children. In most cases, parents make arrangements for baptism at their local Catholic parish.
If extraordinary circumstances suggest that your child’s baptism could take place at Guardian Angel Cathedral, please get in touch with us at [email protected].
Baptisms at the Cathedral are celebrated at 1 PM on Saturday afternoons. We do not offer the Sacrament of Baptism within the Mass. We have the following blackout dates:
Solemnities
3rd Sunday of Advent through the Baptism of the Lord
Palm Sunday through Divine Mercy Sunday
Important Notice About Baptism Scheduling
Please note that Guardian Angel Cathedral cannot set a date for your child’s Baptism until all required paperwork has been received, reviewed, and recorded. This includes forms for both parents/guardians and the godparents you have chosen.
No dates will be held in advance, and no exceptions can be made. To avoid delays, we encourage families to submit all documents as early as possible.
When requesting baptism at Guardian Angel Cathedral, please review the following guidelines:
Parents must provide a letter of recommendation from their family’s local parish within the Archdiocese of Las Vegas, supporting the baptism that will take place at the Cathedral. A template for this recommendation from your parish priest is available upon request.
Parents and godparents will be asked to complete a Baptism Preparation Program. That can be accomplished by registering for the First Sunday 2:15 PM Pre-Baptismal Class for Parents and Godparents at Guardian Angel Cathedral, or at any parish within the Archdiocese of Las Vegas. Please note that a raised seal certificate of completion will be required.
Completion of this form with the signature of both parents. The consent of both parents is required for a minor to receive the Sacrament. The Guardian Angel Cathedral might request additional custody documents.
Please note that only parents can seek the Sacrament of Baptism for their child. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, or neighbors do not have the right to request the Sacrament of Baptism for a child that is not their own. We encourage you to work with the child's parents in preparing for the Sacrament of Baptism.
