Yes—it absolutely does.
Back in 1990, Bishop Walsh of Las Vegas recognized that the Cathedral was overflowing with tourists and visitors. To ease the crowding, he asked Rome for special permission to celebrate an earlier Saturday Mass of Anticipation at 2:30 PM. This permission—called an indult—was officially granted by the Vatican, and it is still in effect today.
That means our 2:30 PM Saturday Vigil Mass is not just a “tourist Mass” or an extra liturgy—it truly fulfills your Sunday obligation. In fact, Guardian Angel Cathedral is one of the only churches in the entire world with this unique permission.
